Lightingspiration was approached to create the perfect feature light installation for the reception area at a Grade II* listed property on Grosvenor Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROJECT OVERVIEW<\/strong>
Lightingspiration were recently approached by GTH Architects to create the perfect feature light installation\u00a0for the reception area at a Grade II* listed property on Grosvenor Street. A property once described by The Survey of London as \u2018one of the finest houses on the Grosvenor Estate\u2019,\u00a0we felt honored that this iconic Jan Pauwels ligtht was chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE CHALLENGE<\/strong>
Following initial consultation, the 175cm Sirio Disc chandelier, which features curved rods and tiny LEDS,\u00a0was proposed, to beautifully match the balustrade. The selected finish was Black-Brass to contrast the surrounding area, whilst the chosen light source was\u00a0the 2400K LED circuitboard to give a warmer ambiance and a more minimal aesthetic,\u00a0compared to the more industrial LED bulb (used within other models).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following refinements to the design – which included a slight alteration in shape from a disc to a \u2018donut\u2019!\u00a0– we set about engaging fully with the wider project team, where many challenges had yet to be overcome\u2026 Such as respecting the the classic ornate ceiling rose during installation and integrating emergency lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QUASAR\u2019S SOLUTION<\/strong>
Lighting Output\/Levels,\u00a0<\/strong>To overcome concerns regarding the lighting level and demonstrate compliance,\u00a0we provided emergency lighting calculations for the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fixing Method,\u00a0<\/strong>Due to the buildings Grade II* listing, the ornate ceiling rose had to be retained\u00a0and protected at all costs during installation and operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Custom Fixing Method,<\/strong> To combat this, we devised a special suspension method using custom cable\u00a0blockers to allow the fixture to suspend from three cables, whilst avoiding the\u00a0cables rubbing against the ceiling rose.\u00a0 All drivers, emergency and control\u00a0modules could then be placed remotely, above the ceiling (with access from above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In projects like this, the finest details really are the most important.\u00a0They also allow us to showcase how our consultative approach, extensive product\u00a0knowledge and attention to detail can help overcome major obstacles to achieve\u00a0an incredible result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASSEMBLY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special parts are made for this suspension to install it as aestheticallypleasing as possible. In addition to the lamp, the ornate ceiling rose should\u00a0also maintain its attention. Subtlety was a challenge.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMERGENCY FUNCTION <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to meet regulations, a special emergency lighting function\u00a0was added to the fixture.\u00a0During normal operation, the entire luminaire\u00a0is illuminated, but during \u2018emergency mode\u2019\u00a0(e.g. power outage), several LEDs will\u00a0continue operating for 3 hours (as demonstrated on the right).\u00a0This provides the required emergency lighting level on the stairwell via\u00a0a secondary emergency circuit and battery pack.\u00a0An exciting new development for the Jan Pauwels collection!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE OUTCOME<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of the close and detailed collaboration between Quasar and the creative partners,\u00a0Quasar was able to come with a solution respecting the heritage atmosphere of the buildingand was also able to adhere to the technical safety instructions to create an integrated emergency lighting function. Mission accomplished!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REALISATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An installation guide made it possible that the fixture got installed by a\u00a0professional installer.\u00a0The design now came to life….resulting in a beautiful final outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
