Custom light sculpture.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
In close collaboration with Studio Rublek and the design team at Guerrilla Games, Quasar was commissioned to develop a fully customized lighting composition for the game developer’s new headquarters in Amsterdam. The centerpiece of this project: a large-scale, organic “Cosmos” light installation designed to welcome visitors in the building’s main entrance.

THE CHALLENG
Guerrilla Games envisioned a dynamic and natural light composition—an airy, “exploding” constellation of light points that would visually guide visitors through the entrance space. Their own early 3D renderings set high expectations for the scale, randomness, and atmosphere of the piece. However, translating such a fluid, freeform concept into a technical reality—within budget and physical constraints—posed a unique challenge.
Key Requirements:
• Approx. 920 x 770 cm surface coverage
• Varying fixture heights (20–50 cm)
• A random, non-uniform aesthetic with spontaneous “outbursts”
• Dual-color LEDs (2400K & 2800K) on two circuits per power point
• A significantly reduced light density compared to standard setups
Originally, the client proposed around 750 light points; however, after technical studies, it became clear that to achieve the desired spatial effect, a higher number (1300–1350 points) would be required.

QUASAR’S SOLUTION
Rather than scaling back the creative vision, the team at Quasar opted to enhance technical efficiency. We customized the Cosmos structure using extended suspension rods (up to 36 cm) to create a lighter, more open composition. This reduced fixture density by approximately 15–20% without compromising the visual impact.
To meet budget targets, we offered a marketing-based discount, rounding down the total project to the available budget from the architect. In return, Guerrilla Games agreed to provide high-resolution photography of the final installation, with usage rights for promotional purposes.
Key highlights:
• Fully bespoke LED configuration
• Eight power feeds with dual-circuit control (16 total channels)
• Modular design for just-in-time delivery
• Carefully calibrated density and layout to match the client’s visual goals

ASSEMBLY
Our team does manual craftmanship. In addition to focusing on quality, they also pay attention to the aesthetics. Form & function remain in perfect balance, tailored to the unique character of every space.
This case underlines how Quasar supports architects and designers in pushing the boundaries of light, delivering solutions that are as technically sound as they are visually compelling.
The fixture is thoroughly inspected and tested before transport to ensure everything is functioning properly. Packaging is also done manually, and in many cases, this is a part of a custommade proces.

THE OUTCOME
Again this case underlines how Quasar supports architects and designers in pushing the boundaries of light, delivering solutions that are as technically sound as they are visually compelling.

REALISATION
The installation of this project was done by the Quasar Team itself………..resulting in a beautiful final outcome.
